NOUN condoles with Akpor Kingdom over king’s death


A delegation of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has paid a condolence visit to the burial of His Royal Highness, Eze (Amb) A. A. Orlu Oriebe (JP), Nyenwe-Ali Akpor of Akpor Kingdom, the late king of Akpor Kingdom in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, who passed on recently.

It will be recalled that Akpor Kingdom is the direct host community of Port Harcourt Study Centre of NOUN in Ozuoba Town.

Kaduna centre holds orientation for new students


The Kaduna Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria has held its orientation programme for the newly matriculated students of the centre.

It could be recalled that the university had last weekend matriculated 17, 804 fresh students, with 11,962 as the undergraduate students while 5,821 for the postgraduate’s studies. 

FCT Minister tasks NOUN on improved publicity


The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammed Musa Bello, has called on the management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to give more publicity to the activities of the institution.

The minister stated this when he received NOUN’s presidential visitation panel, led by its chairman, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali in Abuja.

Port Harcourt Study Centre hosts students to SIWES orientation


The management of Port Harcourt Study Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, led by the centre director, Prof. Eserinune McCarty Mojaye, on Thursday, hosted students of the centre to Students' Industrial Work Experience (SIWES) orientation exercise.

Mojaye, who received the SIWES officials accorded them a warm welcome and encouraged students to take the scheme seriously as SIWES has become part and parcel of the Nigerian higher education curriculum.

Gombe Study Centre holds virtual, physical students’ orientation


Gombe Study Centre of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held both virtual and physical orientation programmes for its newly admitted students.

 In his welcome address, the centre director, Dr. Adamu Bappah explained that the orientation programme was meant to prepare the fresh students to understand the hallmark of the university.

Apapa centre director visits Naval Training Command


The Director, Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Navy, Dr. (Mrs.) Ofe I. Inua has paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Naval Training Command, Apapa, Rear Admiral K. A. Lawal.

The director, in her presentation, highlighted the various programmes offered by NOUN that would be of immense benefit and interest to the Naval Officers and Ratings.

RETRIDOL holds orientation for academic staff, centre directors


The Regional Training & Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning ( RETRIDOL), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN),  will be holding a week of orientation workshop for academic staff and centre directors of the University. 

In a memo addressed to the Media and Publicity Director,  dated May 17th, 2021 and signed by the Deputy Director, Prof. Clifford M. Amini, it enjoined the participants to partake online.
