Students undertake EHS practical in Lagos


Students of the Department of Environmental Health Science (EHS), Faculty of Health Sciences of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have undergone science laboratory practical sessions at the university’s Lagos office.

The two sessions on General Microbiology and Biochemistry, preceded by a 3-day training, were coordinated by the Head of the Department, Dr. Oluremi Saliu and Mr. Eya Chukwunons.

Enugu Study Centre hosts laboratory practical for South-east students


The Faculty of Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has, on Tuesday 12 October, 2021, commenced the 2021 _2 laboratory practical exercise for the South-east geopolitical region at Enugu Study Centre.

The exercise, which is scheduled to last for 2 weeks at the centre, gathered students from Enugu, Abakaliki and Awka Study Centres.

 According to the Director of Research Administration, Prof. Joseph Omada, the science practical is mandatory for all students undertaking science courses without which graduation will be elusive.

NOUN BNSc gets NMCN’s full accreditation


The Secretary-General/Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Dr. F.U. Abubakar, has said the council has granted a “full accreditation” to the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) programme of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

Abubakar said the recognition and acceptance of the programme followed a holistic accreditation process undertaken on all the benchmark indices and the programme emerged sound enough to scale the set standards.

PenCom begins transfer window policy, NOUN staff told


In yet another interactive session with the staff of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), another firm, Premium Pension Limited has taken the centre stage, where it discussed pressing pensions issues, mentioned new updates and cleared the air on raised up questions.

Speaking at the session, the representative of the firm, Mr. Afeez Adeoye, disclosed that the National Pension Commission (PenCom) has a new policy where contributors can transfer from one PFA to another.

Jalingo Study Centre trains staff on ICT


The management of Jalingo Study Centre, Taraba State, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held a 5-day basic computer training for all staff of the centre.

The training, which was held from 27 September - 1 October 2021, was a hands-on exercise where all participants were exposed to the use of Microsoft Office application, mainly Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet as well as email for office work.

Port Harcourt Study Centre to set up TMA gallery for students


The management of Port Harcourt Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has finalised plans to set up a gallery for Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) for students at the centre.

Disclosing this in her address during Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) sensitisation workshop recently, the centre director, Dr. Nnenna Nancy Chukwuma, said the way and manner in which students contract their TMAs to operators of business centres outside has raised a lot of concern.
